My name is Kristina, and I'm a total book-blogging noob.
With that said, I'd like to welcome you (although I'm pretty sure "you" are pretty nonexistent this early on in my blog) to Frazzled Book Nommer! I'm pretty sure I'm going to look back at this entry and cringe at a later date, but for now it'll suffice.
I came across the Book Blogosphere from Goodreads, where I've met a couple of amazing people and really friendly authors. It was such an intense shock that an author was willing to interact with their fans! I mean, obviously I knew authors did it, but I, having lived the small-town life, assumed it was only through book-signings or whatnot. Never have I heard of an author being on twitter or Goodreads, until I personally spoke to a few authors I happened to come across by chance, like Julie Kagawa and Aprilynne Pike. An even bigger shock, you ask? When I saw the author I've been in love with (for almost as long as I've loved Anne McCaffrey) -- Tamora Pierce!!! -- on Goodreads and interacting with fans! That was such a "culture" shock if I ever saw one -- I was frozen in shock, mouth hanging ajar, drool dripping out, flies making their homes on my tongue. You get the picture.
I think it's a fabulous idea for debut authors (and even long-time authors) to become so available to the fans like that. I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon (a few years late, I must admit) of book-blogging, and "spreading the word" through my blog.
Behind the name:
"Frazzled Book Nommer sounds so weird. Why'd you pick it?" (No one actually asked that :P) Oh, I dunno. Just because? I'm not very imaginative or witty at all, so I couldn't come up with something cool and "showy". If I had attempted at a play on words, I'm sure you'd be smacking your head right now. Anyway. I'm frazzled half of the time, and I'm pretty sure my future book reviews won't fall short of that -- they'll be frazzletastic and all over the place! (Very a la this!) The latter half of the name is self-explanatory. I nom books like they're pieces of candy. I've averaged ~500 books a year once, but... Alas, that was when I was young and a victim of cruel insomnia. [Oh, the irony. Check the post time if you don't get what I'm talking about.]
Your intents and Purposes:
Reviews, for the most part. I've never done one, so I'm REALLY serious when I say, "Don't say I didn't warn ya!". I'd like to help authors get out there and be known -- especially those debuting with their first novels. I have tons of books in my TBR list, so maybe if someone comes on my blog, they'll find a few reviews they find they like and add the book to their TBR list, as well. I found a TON of books I had no clue even existed by visiting a Book Blog, so there's that. In a way, this blog is also for purely selfish reasons. I'd love coming back and reading a book years later, then going to my blog and read what I had written in a review about it. When I think about it, I can't help from chortling! xD
Last Words (for now.. dun dun dun~) :
I don't really expect any visitors to my blog anytime soon, to be honest. But once I get out there, I hope that I'll get to meet some of you wonderful people and find that some of you are interested in my reviews, and perhaps have a few discussions with you guys! =) As for the state of my blog... I'd really like to update it weekly (or twice weekly, or more during summers/winters!), but how often I update is very reliant on my free time. I'm a Nursing student, so I don't get MUCH of it. I try, though, as I do love books. Please don't be mad at me if a week goes by without an update and/or review! *gulp*
Anywho, here's to a bright future of my book blog! Feel free to leave me messages, e-mails, tweets, or whatever. Friend me on Goodreads, Shelfari. Also, recommendations are VERY helpful! What would you like to see on the blog? What do you think I could scrap? Got a specific book you want me to review? I take everyone's opinion into consideration, so don't be shy. <3
Disclaimer:
I tend to ramble on and on and on. A lot. I'm not liable to any headaches or angst you may get from my wall-of-texts, though I'm highly hoping you'll stick it out through it! :P
Hope to see you guys soon!
<3 Kristina.
