Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday Nov. 12-15

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy-for-Books. It's a chance for book bloggers to interact, make new friends, and most importantly, share their love of books!

This week's question is:
If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?
Uh, heck to the yes. I hate reading a series out of order. The only time I did that was when I picked up the second novel in Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider of Pern series (are you guys sick of me pushing that title on ya? xP). I immediately bought the first. I cannot read a series out of order in any circumstance. I like going into stories cold turkey, without having read the synopsis or knowing anything about the book, but not 2nd novel cold turkey. I might have missed something important in the first novel.

Follow Friday is a weekly meme posted on Friday's that is hosted by Parajunkee @ Parajunkee's View. To join, all you have to do is follow the host and the week's featured blogger. Then put your name on the linky, grab the button, and follow, follow, follow as many people as you can! If someone comments and says they're following you, be a dear and follow back -- it's all about spreading the love during Follow Friday! :)

This week's question is:

What is your usual monthly book budget?

Book budget? What's that? I'm a poor college student that survives on the sale of 4 cups of ramen noodles for $1. So, my book budget is $0. I either borrow books from the library or hog Barnes and Noble's air conditioning while I read a book in the store. I only ever buy a book if it is extremely good - so extreme that I can't live my life without owning that book in some form.

Hey, thanks for hopping by! Following you back :)
I feel your pain in regards to the book budget; I just graduated and God, it feels good to have a job and live off of real food, ha. I remember the days of begging my friends to borrow their books, too. Have a great weekend!

Happy hopping, Kristina! Book budget hahahaha I should really set one, but I'd rather read than eat, so I often end up doing just that ;)

I'm following you now too! I was once a poor college student too, so don't worry about a book budget. Yours is textbook budget. ;)

I always have to go back and read the 1st book in a series. I want to know all the background before starting the others.

Thanks for stopping by. I've totally been there eating ramen.

I know what you mean by a poor college student. So am I! :( I wished books were cheaper or something since we have to buy textbooks more than reading books. :\

I also followed you. Thanks for the follow!

Hi Kristina! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog - I'll be following yours now too!

Ah, college. I remember all the money I spent on textbooks and think of all the hundreds of books I could have bought that I would've actually enjoyed reading.... :)

Great blog! Looking forward to reading your reviews!

Hi! I'm stopping by from the hop :) I try to read books in the order intended, but I have had a few instances that I found I was reading a sequel. Have a blessed weekend!

P.S. I too have a very small book budget, I usually buy books on VERY special occasions.

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

Hey Kristina! Thanks for stopping by, we are new followers!

As for book budget. The library is a GREAT place to get books. And honestly, I’m sure that you know your school comes first anyway.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Saturday (I'm late stopping by), I have several series I have read out of order with no problem. I've also had the reverse started in middle by mistake and ruined all the books that came before it.
