Waiting on Wednesday (1)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week, I'm waiting on:

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner
Releases October 12, 2010
Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end. No more puzzles. No more Variables. And no more running. Thomas was sure that escape meant he and the Gladers would get their lives back. But no one really knew what sort of life they were going back to.

Burned by sun flares and baked by a new, brutal climate, much of the earth is a wasteland. Government has disintegrated--and with it, order--and now Cranks, people covered in festering wounds and driven to murderous insanity by the infectious disease known as the Flare, roam the crumbling cities hunting for their next victim... and meal.

The Gladers are far from done running. Instead of freedom, they find themselves faced with another trial. They must cross the Scorch, the most burned-out section of the world, and arrive at a safe haven in two weeks. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Thomas can only wonder--does he hold the secret of freedom somewhere in his mind? Or will he forever be at the mercy of WICKED?

Why I'm waiting on The Scorch Trials:
I'd recently read the first book to this series, The Maze Runner (you can read my review here). I liked it enough to really want to read The Scorch Trials! I have high hopes for this next novel: Dashner knows how to weave a fast-paced novel full of action and suspense (with a little dribble of possible romance?). The Maze Runner posed us with more questions than answers, so I'm hoping The Scorch Trials will answer a few things. I really want to know what happens to the Gladers! I'm also veeeeery curious to see what Thomas does with his memory after what he did last time. *vagueness* :P Best part? I technically only have to wait SIX DAYS!! ACK! :D

What are you waiting on this wednesday? :)

I love the blurb clear up to the festering wounds part and then you lose me. Funny huh that I can love all kinds of paranormal and blood stuff but anything zombieish has me squimish. YAY you don't have long to wait :)

@TheBookishSnob: It isn't really zombieish! :) At least, I don't think. I can't handle zombies either -- I can't watch/read anything with zombies in it! :S

@Ayanami: Yeah! :D I didn't know either, until Randombuzzer gave away 50 free ARCs (that I missed ;_; )

@Tina: Yeah, thanks <3 High-five! Thank you about my name! I always introduce myself in person as "Kristina with a K" because everyone spells my name with a C or Ch. :( My family actually calls me Tina, sometimes :S

@Audrey: Omg you lucky bugger! So jealous. xD Now you've just got me excited all over again! :P

To everyone who hasn't read the Maze Runner: I strongly encourage that you do <3 It's awesome. xD

YES!!! THE SCORCH TRIALS! I cannot wait as evidenced by my overuse of capitalization and exclamation points. :) I absolutely loved The Maze Runner and am so excited for this next installment.

PS. Do you have a button? I would like to put one on my blog if you do.

Hi Kristina!
People have a lot to say about The Maze Runner, and I'm lucky, cause it'll be released in Spanish soon! Which means I'll be able to buy the printed book!
I'm following you now too :)
xo,
Ella

Sounds a lot like Hunger Games from the summary. Did Maze Runner feel that way to you? I should look it up sometime.

@Elle: yay! I know how you feel! I'm oozing with anticipation! :D

@Tracy: You won't be disappointed! (At least, I don't think you will be!)

@Stacey: Thank you! :) And you should get on it! I highly recommend it. <3

@sab: yes, you do! It's so good I'd bribe you with cookies to read it! xD

@Faye: You should! :D And tell me what you think if you get around to it! :)

@Steph: Thanks for stopping by, also! :)

@Amber: You're welcome; it was a horrible thing to happen to a kitten. My sympathy goes out to her. :(

@Jennifer: Whoohoo! Another lover! The over-capitalization and exclamation points are TOTALLY warranted! I had to keep myself from capsing! xD

Also, I do have a button! I just posted it up and let you know on your blog. :)

@Ella: Oh, that's awesome! I hope you get to read the first one soon! Let me know what you think of it! :)

@Book Sake: It is great! It's dystopian and freaking awesome. I wouldn't watch the movie though, haha.

@Alison: Actually yeah, I did think of the Hunger Games from the summary. Two books that are continually associated with the Maze Runner are the Hunger Games series and Lord of the Flies, both of which I agree with. There isn't so much romance in this book as there is with the Hunger Games, but it's still really good!

@Brandi: Woohoo another lover! :D
