Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday Oct. 15-18

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy-for-Books. It's a chance for book bloggers to interact, make new friends, and most importantly, share their love of books!

This week's question is:

"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?"

I stick it out. I know some people just give up, but I personally feel incomplete if I don't at least finish the book. I always give books fair chances (even if I hate it so much I want to throw it at someone), so I just keep reading. I'm the same way about series, too, even though I'll be angry and moody by the time I finish (*coughVampireKnightcough*).

Follow Friday is a weekly meme posted on Friday's that is hosted by Parajunkee @ Parajunkee's View. To join, all you have to do is follow the host and the week's featured blogger. Then put your name on the linky, grab the button, and follow, follow, follow as many people as you can! If someone comments and say they're following you, be a dear and follow back -- it's all about spreading the love during Follow Friday! :)

This week's question is:

What is your reading suggestion this week?

Based on MY readings this week, the Vampire Academy series. This is an amazing series and if you haven't read it yet (I know there are some of you out there!), you should. Also, Restored Hope by Brenda Youngerman (I loved this novel; it made me cry), which is a fiction novel about death and finding hope when you least expect it.

haha, I try to stick it out too. If I really hate it though, I WILL throw it at someone *everyone ducks*. Vampire Knight is so...I don't know, it's just confusing for me to read. I did watch seasons one and two of the anime though! I haven't read vampire academy or restored hope...yet. I hope to soon though!

I totally use to stick it. But then I was like....eh. And recently I *have* thrown at least two books across the room. ( what? I have a temper! LOL!)

Hello! I try to finish a book but if I dislike it I won't read any more books in the series or by the author.

Hi Kristina,

Thanks for following me, I'm following you back :)

I tend to stick out books too, I hate leaving anything half-finished. I never got through 'Midnight's Children' by Salman Rushdie - tacky books I can see through but not always pretentious ones!

And if you were in the UK there would definitely be plenty of rain at the moment! Where do you live?

I have GOT to start reading Vampire Academy. I love the Morganville Vamps series, so I figured I'd love this one too, right? Happy Friday!

I will stick with it and finish a book even if I don't like it. And if it's in a series then that too. I'm afraid I'll miss a great ending or something, LoL
Happy reading this weekend!

Thanks for dropping by my blog! I love yours. I need to read the Vampire Academy series, but haven't gotten to it yet. I have the first book hanging out on my shelves at home--sounds like it is time to pick it up. Thanks!

Ah, see, I give up on a series if it's just awful (I'm looking at YOU, Robert Jordan)... but I finish reading the book in the series.

I've heard a lot of good things about Vampire Academy... I suspect it's time to check it out!

Thanks for dropping by my blog and commenting. I totally understand what you mean about reading a series because you've read the first book. Most of the time I buy the whole series before I start the book because I want to be able to read it straight through. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Have an awesome weekend!

OMG, I love the title and catch phrase of your blog, and thank you so much for following my blog, twitter, and GR account! (I'm signing in right now to accept your friend request and to stalk you too.) I feel the same way about finishing a series. I figure if I invest so much time into something, I ought to stick it out to see how it ends...even if it ends horribly. If anything, it gives me cannon to rant about.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to chatting with you about books, and I hope you have a great weekend! OM NOM NOM. ;3

Thanks for the follow, I'm now a follower of yours :) I usually try my hardest to finish a book- if I don't get hooked, I put it down and pick it up later when I feel that I'm in a better mood for it. Sometimes, though, I just can't finish a book hard as I try :(

@Anna: Thanks for stopping by! :)

@Black Disaster Fairy: haha, I feel like I have to push myself to finish. I feel more accomplished than leaving a "loose thread".

@Danna: I replied at your blog <3

@AtenRa: LOL yes! I'd kill to live in Europe! California isn't as cracked up as it seems to be -- constant traffic, 110+ weather, earthquakes. Blegh! I'd rather trade places with you! :P

@Straylights: LOL! I've been tempted to throw books, don't worry! Vampire Knight is a manga. I don't suggest you read it. It's FRUSTRATING if you're Team Zero like I am. URGH. Now THAT is one manga I'd like to throw at the manga-ka. I'd like to throw her entire series at her, to be honest.

@Chrissie: Thanks for stopping by, also! :)

@ Katie: Hi! I keep reading series even if I dislike it, haha. I'm just stubborn and feel incomplete if I don't finish!

@Sam: Hi Sam! Thanks for following me back! Ohhh I WISH I was in the UK. More than anything. I love in Southern California, where it rains about one day a year. Maybe only 25% exaggeration.

@Anna: Yes, you have to! :P

@Elizabeth: Thanks for the compliments on my blog, and thank you for stoppin' by!

@Parajunkee: Hi! Thanks for stopping by <3 That was really exciting. xD

@Crystal: Thanks for stopping by! :) I don't finish series because I'm afraid I'll miss the ending. I just need to finish otherwise I feel incomplete not knowing what happens. xD

@bookdout: I liked 1-3 of Vamp Acad, then slightly disliked 4, then re-claimed my liking of 5. xD Thanks for stopping by!

@Angela: Aww, thank you for stopping by <3

@Alleluia: Thanks for following!

@Amanda: I'm stubborn too! Whoohoo for stubborn readers! :)

@Fiction Spark: Thanks for stopping by! :)

@Charlie: Thanks for stopping by! :)

@Preternatural: Aww, thank you for stopping by! Mucho amor para tu. <3 (excuse my bad spanish xD)

@Kai: Hi Kai! Kamusta ka na? Mabuti ako! :) Thanks for stopping by! You need, capital N-E-E-D to start reading the Vamp Acad series. :)

@Christine: Hi! Thanks for stopping by! <3 And thank you for the compliment!

@Sharyla: Hi! Thanks for stopping by <3 And for the compliments - you had me giggling for a while there! :)

@LMW: I'm the same way! Glad I'm not the only one. :)

@Stephanie: Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

@bookaddict4real: haha, nothing's off topic! Thank you for the compliment! :)

@Melissa: Thanks for stopping by, and for the compliments! You should go pick that book up right now! :P

@Heather; LOL! I keep up with a series even if I detest it. xD Even if it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I wished I hadn't of read it in the first place. xD DEFINITELY check out Vamp Acad! :)

@Kaitlyn: Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

@Amber: Thanks for stopping by! I do the same thing! I hate waiting for sequels - I'd rather put it off until everything's out. xD

@Emi: Haha aw, thank you so much! I'm still trying to get a rating system with something nomming books. xD Yay for stalkage! :) I'm loving that I totally agree with your answer! I can rant for ages about this one particular book I despised, but kept going with! :P

Have a great weekend, yourself! Keep nomming on those books! xD

@Maidenveil: Hi Len! Thanks for stopping by again! :) I totally agree! Glad I'm not the only one that finishes all their books. :P

Kristina Barnes♥ said...

@Erika: Hi! Thanks for the follow! :) I sometimes feel like that too, but I trudge on, even if it takes me forever to finish a book. I'm just plain stubborn and refuse to give up. :P
