Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday Dec. 3-6

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy-for-Books. It's a chance for book bloggers to interact, make new friends, and most importantly, share their love of books!

This week's question is:
What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?
I hope I don't get beef for saying this, but Nightshade by Andrea Cremer. I mean, I liked it, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have because it was so over-hyped and my expectations of it were above normal. If I had had lower standards and not have expected to be wowed and dazzled, I probably would have enjoyed it more. I've had a blogger tell me with utmost certainty that I'd be torn between both boys in the book. That was so far from the case, it wasn't even funny. :/ But I won't Ren-bash on the Hop - I've ranted about his personality/character at other places. :P

I felt a bit bad for posting a slightly negative review as a guest post, but I'm not going to compromise honesty even if my views go against the crowd. I hope you guys don't, either!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme posted on Friday's that is hosted by Parajunkee @ Parajunkee's View. To join, all you have to do is follow the host and the week's featured blogger. Then put your name on the linky, grab the button, and follow, follow, follow as many people as you can! If someone comments and says they're following you, be a dear and follow back -- it's all about spreading the love during Follow Friday! :)

This week's question is:

What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby??

My gosh, do you other bloggers even have time to do something other than reading and reviewing? :P For me, I'm either studying for chemistry, reading, or reviewing. Not particularly in that order. If I had time... I'd... play games? I think? Or take walks? Wow, my answer is pretty sad and pathetic. :P You can tell I'm a hermit that just reads/reviews.

You know what book I really didn't like? The Lonely Hearts Club. I just found it so so obnoxious haha

As for what I do outside of blogging, I spend my time swimming and being an eco-activist! :D

Have a great Friday, Kristina!

FIRST!

lol, sorry, I just couldn't resist.
I still haven't read Nightshade. Its been sitting on my shelf for a few weeks now, but I'm afraid to pick it because of the love triangle thing. (You know how I feel about those) Eventually I'll bring myself to read it, and hopefully I'll be disappointed... Hopefully. ;~;

Happy happy Friday Kristina!

Hey! I was your 300th follower. Cool.
Just stopping by from FF and I noticed we read a lot of the same books. Well, when I'm not reading dirty books, that is. Lol!
Have a great weekend.

Hi Kristina! Happy Friday:) Nightshade got a crazy amount of promotion, it was hard not to have huge huge expectations for it. I did enjoy it, I was a big confused at first, but then by the middle I got into it. Sorry it wasn't for you! I felt pretty out of the loop with my feelings on Crescendo, I just couldn't get past the angst on that one. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy weekend! I just got a copy of Nightshade yesterday, haha. But I don't let hype get to me really. I don't think I've ever been disappointed in a book because other people said it was awesome. Or that it is going to be awesome - I mean, they haven't even read it at this point, right?! So my hopes are the standard hopes of "we'll see" hehe. So I guess we'll see how I feel about it soon! Have fun studying, reading, and reviewing!

Oh! I just laughed so hard at your Friday Follow answer! I too don't understand how people can post 5 product reviews a day every day and still have time for anything else! (and sometimes there's nothing wrong with being a book hermit; but I take a day off each week to not blog .. period) I may have a pre-scheduled post or two, but ... and I generally use the time to kick back with the fam and ... read!
I kind of know the feeling of feeling bad about a review in special circumstances .. one of my reviews was tied to an author guest post where the author would be visiting and replying to the comments .. and I didn't really like the book very much, but I didn't RAG on it .. I just felt that the characters could have been more developed, etc. The author was livid because I didn't think her work was a lyrical piece of art .. so whatever .. Now, I post reviews and guest posts separately, especially for mediocre books. :) But I still tell my true feeling about the book in any review, even if I have to post it as a mixed review, with both the good and bad pointed out.

I have to say Nightshade was one that I really loved, which was odd because lately I've been really disappointed with YA paranormals.

KRISSSSSSS!

We basically have the same answer on both questions! Well except that the book I didn't really enjoy was Elixir. It's not that I feel bad for not liking it, it's just that it's the first book I've read that I didn't really like. I tried being as honest as I can w/ my review though. And I haven't read Nightshade! I'll reserve my judgment for that book. :)

*glomps* Hobby? What hobby? This is my hobby!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Hi There!
I'm an old follower dropping by to say hi! I know what you mean about time. More than one post a day??? Where do they find the time?? I can't do it! Hope you have a great weekend.

Hey Kristina, just fyi I responded to all your comments, on the original post where you'd written them. :) I didn't want to spam up your blog but I didn't know if you'd see them on my blog, so I settled for posting on my blog and posting about posting on yours... yeah. Hehe!

I finished "Do Tampons Take Your Virginity?" recently, on your recommendation. I did like it; I really enjoy books that are about peoples' experiences and views of the world, you know? She certainly had some crazy stuff to go through though. I found I was most upset over what her mother endured, though... I really, really hate bad marriages.
